Q: WHAT TIME WILL GAMES START ON FRIDAY?

For youth tournaments teams will typically play 2 games on Friday, 2 games on Saturday and 1 or 2 games on Sunday. Though the first games typically start around 12:00 pm, teams are expected to be available to play their first game as early as 8:00 on Friday morning. Last games are typically 3:30 pm on Sunday, although typically earlier for most divisions. Schedule requests are not guaranteed. Schedule requests from local teams will not be accepted.

Q: HOW MANY GAMES ARE GUARANTEED?

5 games minimum; 6 games maximum format for all our youth boy & girls tournaments in Ontario, Quebec and BC.

For our US tournaments, teams are guaranteed 4 games.

Q: WHAT ARENA WILL WE BE PLAYING AT?

Most of our tournaments use multiple facilities over the course of the weekend. We can’t say for certain which rink your division will be played out of until the schedule is released; this is based on the number of teams in each division and the ice available at each rink.

The event webpage for each tournament shows which facilities are projected to be used (including Google Map of location).

Q: WHEN WILL THE SCHEDULE BE POSTED?

The schedule is posted online 7 days before each tournament. Our deadline for posting the schedule is 5:00 PM on the Friday preceding the tournament. Once posted, the schedule is available on the tournament's webpage; you can access it by click on the “Schedule” link.

Team reps will be contacted once the schedule is uploaded.

Q: HOW DO I SEND PAYMENT

You can pay for your entry fee by Visa, Mastercard or PayPal (Debit/E-Debit/Transfer) either through the online payment portal available on each tournament page or over the phone using our toll-free number.

Alternatively, you can pay by cheque as long as we receive the cheque at least 1 month prior to the tournament to allow for bank processing time.

You can also pay by cash, or credit card at the customer service desk at your closest Canlan Ice Sports facility.

Q: CAN A PLAYER PLAY UP OR DOWN A DIVISION?

We allow a player to play up if the team’s coaching staff feels they won’t be over-matched to the point of risking injury. We do NOT allow players to play down a year.

Q: HOW DO I SUBMIT MY ROSTER?

The team rep will be emailed instructions on how to correctly submit your roster the week of the tournament.

It is mandatory to submit your roster. Stickers for game sheets are not required, as all game sheets will come pre-populated with the correct roster.

In the best interest of all participating teams and the tournament, CCT has entered partnerships with hotels that offer group discounts. All hotel bookings must be approved by CCT staff – Registration is pending this condition is met.

This is necessary to better combat the rising costs by the hotel industry and to ensure there are enough accommodations available for teams.

Q: FREE AGENTS and INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATIONS

In conjunction with Hyperfit Hockey & OHC (Ontario Hockey Club), we have created a program that offers all players the chance to continue their hockey development in the off-season, leading up to and during our tournaments. More information can be found on the Prospects Academy webpage (here).

We can also assist with placing your child on an existing team if you are looking to play on a specific weekend (pending availability). Please visit the Prospects webpage for more information.

Q: WHAT DIVISIONS ARE BODY CHECKING?

Fall/Winter: Follow the tournament location’s local rules. In most cases minor bantam is the youngest age group with body checking.

Spring/Summer: As of the end of the 2018-19 season (April 1, 2019) the players graduate to the next age group. Therefore body checking with be legal for minor bantam (2006 born) in 2019.

We have a lot of experience introducing checking for the first time. It is a transition period we manage every year.

Most teams view this as an opportune time to learn proper checking technique (giving/receiving) while everyone is the same boat of still learning. It’s a great way to practice and get a head start on the competition next fall.

However, there are plenty of teams (for example GTHL A, House Select, AE or MD) that wish to play non-contact. If that is the case please let us know. We usually have a separate non-contact division for these teams.

It is the responsibility of the coach or manager of a non-contact team to notify us of your preference. Otherwise eligible for body checking will be assumed for 2006’s and older.
